Lt.-Cmdr. Kuebler had been preparing to submit material for a presidential committee reviewing Mr. Khadr's detention ahead of an April 15 deadline. Here's the Cannon spokesthingy's line today:
Losing Lt.-Cmdr. Kuebler is a “significant loss,” one source said.
“They'll be scrambling to put things together,” the source said. “I don't think it will be done adequately. I think he is going to be hurt.”
"Canada has always insisted that Mr. Khadr has access to competent counsel of his choice," said Catherine Loubier.By all means, make sure he has his counsel of choice at the politicized and extra-legal Guantanamo process that is winding down. That's the Conservative priority, not the larger substantive Guantanamo mess and extricating a Canadian citizen from it.
Let's hope that as they inquire about Khadr's representation they might be asked, well, while you Canadians are asking...why don't you just repatriate Mr. Khadr while you're at it?
