Hudak fundraiser the CEO of that Toronto private health clinic

As we've been hearing about this story, "Private-clinic patients jump the line for flu shot," an interesting fact has garnered some more attention: Shaun Francis, chair and CEO of Medcan Health Management, the Toronto private clinic in the news at the moment, led Ontario PC Tim Hudak's leadership fundraising team.

There are questions as to why this private clinic received H1N1 vaccine and calls for this to be investigated. Yet Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq takes a hands off approach on the question:
Liberal health critic Carolyn Bennett called on federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq to enforce the Canada Health Act and launch an investigation into whether any patients of the private clinics not among the high-risk groups received the vaccination.

"If people are paying to queue barge in the middle of a public health emergency, that could be in violation of the act," Ms. Bennett said.

Ms. Aglukkaq said it is up to the provinces to determine how they distribute the vaccine.
Distribution yes, but enforcement of the Canada Health Act? At least Ontario's Minister is interested in the question: "When all of this is behind us, it is a question we're going to want to take a pretty good look at."

The confluence of private health care with Conservative politics and an apparent lack of interest in the matter, not surprising.
