I suppose they were looking for another photo-op to portray the F-35 acquisition as inevitable: "MACKAY SAYS F-35s TO BE BASED AT COLD LAKE AND BAGOTVILLE." And so, MacKay was off to Bagotville in Quebec and "Red Dawn" Hawn was off to Cold Lake in Alberta to announce the placement of the F-35 jets at those locations. The jets we don't buy, if we buy at all, until 2013. And which jets won't arrive until 2016. Again, if they ever do arrive.

In other words, this event today was much ado about nothing, literally. Yet it did make some news quarters.
