Lawrence Martin has an excellent column today on the need for democratic reform as an electoral plan from the Liberals: "Where is Ignatieff’s plan to restore our democracy?" Can't say that I disagree with any of it, except that it would need to have a more populist, mind-grabbing appeal. Access to information reform is not exactly primo vote-getting stuff.
The abuse that our system is vulnerable to with its unwritten parliamentary conventions and customs has been more than amply demonstrated. Laws that need to be tightened up are there for the listing.
Bring. It. On. At the appropriate time, of course.
