"We are ready for an election and we think Canadians are ready for an election," the Liberal leader told The Canadian Press in a year-end interview Thursday. Now today we see confirmation that if we do have an election, Canadians are ok with that:
Half of Canadians would have no reservations about taking part in a federal election in 2011, a new Angus Reid Public Opinion / Toronto Star poll has found. As always, we shall see how election speculation plays out, but it certainly looks like the "Canadians don't want an election" talking point is going to be less handy going forward.
In the online survey of a representative national sample of 1,000 Canadian adults, 49 per cent of respondents agree with holding a federal election next year while one third (34%) disagree with the idea.
