No journalists please, we're Conservatives

What are they afraid of? "TV cameras," as Rahim Jaffer laughably suggests or is it a little accountability being administered?
Reporters have been asked to remain in a room on the third floor of a building across the street, where cabinet ministers who have been permitted to speak publicly are being sent periodically to stand before the cameras.

RCMP and hotel employees have been ejecting journalists who are found in the hotel lobby.

Conservative caucus chairman Rahim Jaffer said that the MPs and cabinet ministers have arrived in the Prince Edward Island capital with their families and may feel intimidated by television cameras.
Sounds a might overdone to me. Isn't interacting with the media part of their jobs?
And I can understand the hotel wanting to keep people who are not guests out, but the RCMP? Since when did they become goons for the Conservatives?
